Summer is officially here and I've put together a few songs to help kick off the season. These songs are staples for my summer playlist, but does not cover all of my summer favorites, therefore I've created a Playlist on Spotify that you can check out and get even more recommendations! ;)
Featured below are songs from Miranda Lambert, George Strait, Sarah Evans, The Dixie Chicks, and Trisha Yearwood.
Miranda Lambert's "Pink Sunglasses" is such a jam that was ready made for the summer season.
An album cut from her fabulous The Weight of These Wings, "Pink Sunglasses" is fun and sassy, featuring a taste of grunge rock that fits the lyrics. Miranda sings about the power of a cheap but cute pair of pink sunglasses and how they make you feel more glamorous, even if you're just standing in the checkout line buying a box of Little Debbies. Below, you'll find a video of Miranda singing the song live, because it's even more fun when she sings it live. ;)
A few other songs that are a staple on my Summer Playlist from Miranda's catalog are: "Mama, I'm Alright", "New Strings", and "For The Birds".
George Strait's "Here For A Good Time", the title track from his 2011 record, is a perfect summer anthem, proclaiming that "I ain't here for a long time, I'm here for a good time." George Strait always puts you in a good mood and is a universal must listen to have a good time. ;)
Other Strait staples include "She'll Leave You With A Smile", "Run", and "Living and Living Well".
Sarah Evans' "Suds in the Bucket" is not only one of Sarah's most well known songs and a favorite karaoke pick, it's also a perfect summer anthem. The song sweeps the listener up into a story that follows an 18 year old girl who runs off with a boy in the heat of a summer romance, leaving the "suds in the bucket and the clothes hanging out on the line".
It's a fun, catchy, and will bring that 90's country nostalgia flooding back. ;)
Other Sarah songs on my Summer Playlist: "Restless" and "Born To Fly".
The Dixie Chicks' "Wide Open Spaces" is such a summer jam, and just a jam in general, am I right ladies? ;) It's an anthem for women everyone, one that puts words to our need for space and to pick our own path in life. The imagery of the song is perfect for a summer playlist.
Other songs I recommend adding to your playlist: "Cowboy Take Me Away".
Trisha Yearwood's "She's In Love With The Boy" is another fun song about young love that ties in the imagery of a drive-in movie and the Tastee Freeze to pull off a nostalgic summer feel.
Also, fun little note: Pay close attention to the animals in the music video, they keep the beat pretty good. ;)
Other Summery Trisha essentials: "XXX's and OOO's (An American Girl)", "Pistol", and "Wrong Side Of Memphis".
